    Traumatic Birth Support ~ Chatter

Post by Smily on Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:33 pm

Did you have a traumatic birth?
    Did it affect future pregnancies/birth?
How did you cope with subsequent births?

Im actually contemplating, not now, but in the future another bubba and would be very interested to know how those who had a less than ideal pregnancy and birth found yourself able to cope with another and what you did to help yourself do so?

Did you have a traumatic birth? Yes, IMO i did.
Did it affect future pregnancies/birth? Yes, I was very traumatised because of it for a long time.
How did you cope with subsequent births? It took me a long time to be able to deal with it, when I found out I was pg with #2 I finally had everything validated and it made me feel a whole lot better.

Did you have a traumatic birth? Yes
Did it affect future pregnancies/birth? I had to be medicated for Tristan's pregnancy due to PTSD.
How did you cope with subsequent births? I think I coped because I had to, but when I heard him make a little cry I knew everything was ok and I was able to relax. Even though his birth was less than ideal (34 weeks, had to be intubated and was rushed to NICU) having been through what we did with Brendan, Tristan was a breeze.
